These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to your use of MyPipCam, including the Chrome extension and the macOS companion app (together, the “Software”). MyPipCam is open-source software created by EarnYour Marketing and published freely on GitHub under the MIT License.

By downloading, installing, building, or using the Software, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
1. License
The Software is licensed under the MIT License. That license governs your rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute the source code. These Terms add practical rules for end users of the built apps and extension. If there is a conflict about source-code rights, the MIT License controls.
2. As-is; no warranty
The Software is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind—express or implied—including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.
EarnYour Marketing and contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Software, to the maximum extent permitted by law. This includes lost recordings, lost data, privacy incidents, third-party service failures, or legal claims related to content you capture.
3. Your responsibility for recordings and privacy
You are solely responsible for:
- What you record (screen, camera, microphone, and anything visible or audible in those captures)
- Obtaining any consent required by law or policy before recording others
- Complying with workplace rules, platform terms, and privacy laws that apply to you
- How you store, share, upload, or delete recordings
- Any API keys or cloud accounts you connect (for example OpenAI or Google)
MyPipCam does not decide whether a recording is lawful. If you are unsure, do not record.
4. Permissions (camera, microphone, screen)
The Software may request access to your camera, microphone, and (in Chrome) tab or screen capture. You control those permissions through Chrome and macOS System Settings. Denying permissions may limit or disable features. The macOS app shows a floating always-on-top camera bubble when camera access is granted; it does not secretly capture without OS permission prompts.
5. Local vs cloud storage
By default, MyPipCam is local-first:
- Recordings may live in the browser (IndexedDB), on a folder you choose on disk, or both
- Optional Google Drive upload and OpenAI transcription happen only when you connect those services and use those features
Anything you upload to a third party is subject to that party’s terms and privacy policy—not EarnYour Marketing’s control.
6. Third-party services
The Software may integrate with or run on platforms you already use, including:

You are responsible for accounts, billing, quotas, and compliance with those providers’ terms. EarnYour Marketing does not operate those services and is not responsible for their outages, pricing, or data handling.
7. Not affiliated with Loom or others
MyPipCam is inspired by picture-in-picture / screen-recording workflows. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Loom, OpenAI, Google, Apple, or Chrome. “Loom-style” in documentation is descriptive only.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Software to:
- Violate applicable law
- Infringe others’ rights (including privacy and intellectual property)
- Circumvent security or access controls of other systems
- Harass, stalk, or surveil people without lawful basis and required consent
9. No professional or compliance claims
Nothing in the Software or its docs is legal, security, or compliance advice. We do not claim SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR certification, or similar attestations for this open-source project.
10. Open-source contributions
Contributions are welcome under the project’s CONTRIBUTING guide and Code of Conduct. By submitting a contribution, you license it under the same MIT License unless you state otherwise in writing before merge.
11. Changes
These Terms may be updated in the repository and on this page. Continued
use after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated
Terms for future use. The MIT License text in
LICENSE changes only via normal open-source contribution
processes.
